This chessboard is a faithful reproduction of a group of pieces and strategic games dating back to the 12th century.
It is likely one of the few surviving medieval chess sets and has been described as the most famous chess set in history, although it is unclear if the pieces actually form an original set. Originally made from walrus tusk, they represent a unique piece of history.
